Bring every day

  • Instrument, music, and a pencil
  • PHS band water jug, at least a half gallon, water only
  • Athletic shoes with laces. No Converse, Vans, or slides
  • Light, non-cotton shorts and a light-colored t-shirt
  • Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm with SPF
  • A real lunch. Chips and a soda will not get you through the afternoon

Heat and hydration

Safety is the staff's first priority. Water breaks every ten minutes when it is hot.

  1. Tomorrow’s hydration starts today. Drink water the day before, not just the morning of.

  2. Milk and dairy do not sit well in a moving stomach in the heat. Peanut butter toast or eggs make a better breakfast.

  3. Sodas and sugary drinks dehydrate. Supplement with water on every break.

  4. Water breaks come every ten minutes when it is hot. Students who feel dizzy or sick tell a director immediately.
